‘Always’ funny, suspenseful

“Always,” directed by Stephen
Spielberg and starring Richard
Dreyfuss and Holly Hunter, is worth
the price of a movie ticket
The setting of the movie is the
Pacific Northwest, where firefighters

are trying to put out a forest fire by
using water-dumping airplanes. Pete
(Richard Dreyfuss) is the squad’s
hotshot pilot, a daredevil.
Dreyfuss is killed while fighting
this fire; the movie focuses on what
happens lo him after he dies.
Dreyfuss is sent back among the
living to be a pilot’s subconscious
inspiration, to Help this guy make
decisions. But the pilot doesn’t know
this, and thinks that Dreyfuss’ voice
is his own thoughts.
Over the course of time, the new
pilot runs into Dreyfuss’ old girlfriend
(Holly Hunter) and falls in love with
her.
From here, the movie deals with
Dreyfuss trying to wrestle with the
fact that this guy he has been assigned
to follow around is in love with his
former girlfriend.
Dreyfuss makes this seemingly zany
plot work. He plays the role of a dead
but jealous man quite well, and his

and still and a few people shudder,

with her powerful voice. All eyes and

the Zoo Bar. The Corsairs is a Lin
coln-based band that exclusively plays
’60s rock by such favorites as The
Rolling Stones, The Kinks and Eric
Burden and the Animals.
Wednesday, The Jazz Underground
will play at The Zoo Bar.
Thursday, The Fortune Tellers will
play at the Zoo Bar. From Czechoslo
vakia by way of Oklahoma City, Basille
and Miho Kolliopoulos play wound
up and punchy American rock ‘n’ roll
that will make you hum and growl.
