Trivia title match
to be televised
MTV is coming to Lincoln --
sort of.
Craig Christensen, the rela
tions director at the Office of
Campus Recreation, said his
organization will conduct a
replica of the MTV program
Remote Control when the finals
of the sports trivia competition
is staged. He said the finals of
the contest will resemble Re
mote Control because they will
be televised and because they
will use the same type of ques
tion-answer format.
University of Nebraska-Lin
coln students who arc interested
in earning a spot in the finals
must attend a preliminary com
petition on Jan. 18 in the first
floor of the student-recreation
center The top eight individu
als from that competition will
cam second-round berths, with
the top four advancing to the
finals.
Men’s volleyball:
UNL beats UNO
The UNL men’s volleyball
team claimed the slate’s brag
ging rights with a victory over
the University of Nebraska at
Omaha, while two intramural
teams claimed their respective
titles.
The UNL men’s team com
bined steady baseline play and a
powerful net game to dispose of
UNO 15-8, 12-15, 15-2, 15-11
at Mablc Lee Hall.
Freedom for Latvia used that
same type of strategy against
Phi Delta Theta, as it defeated
the fraiemily-bascd team two
games to none to win the 80
tcam men’s portion of the all
university playoffs. The
Avengers claimed the 22-tcam
women’s title by defeating
Bishops Babes two games to
one.

Comhusker teams
to see competition
over holiday break
A plethora of events awaits fans
who want to spend Christmas break
watching sports.
The Nebraska men’s and women’s
basketball teams will be in action
over the break, as will the women’s
swimming team and the Comhusker
football and wrestling squads.
The Christmas break action be
gins Dec. 28, wittt the Nebraska
women’s basketball team facing
Northern Iowa at the Bob Dcvancy
Sports Center. The team will travel to
Des Moines, Iowa, to face Drake on
Jan. 30, and also will square off
against Creighton, Northern Illinois,
Kansas and Missouri.
The Nebraska men’s basketball
team will be equally busy, playing
four home games over the break. The
action begins Dec. 30, with the Husk
ers facing Wagner.
Nebraska also will compete
against Sam Houston State on Jan. 6,
Kansas on Jan. 8 and Missouri on Jan.
13. The Missouri contest, which be
gins at 1:35 p.m., will be televised by
the Raycom network.
The women’s swimming team
will travel to San Diego to compete in
the UCSD Invitational on Dec. 30,
and will face USC on Jan. 6. Ne
braska’s next home meet is Feb. 3,
when the Huskcrs face Arkansas on
senior appreciation and alumni rec
ognition day.
The Nebraska wrestling team will
hit the road over the break, traveling
to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the
Sun Devil Duals on Jan. 3. The Husk
crs also will face Clemson and Vir
ginia on Jan. 9 in Clemson, S.C. and
will travel to Hampton, \ a., to com
pete in the national wrestling team
championships Jan. 12-13.
The biggest event over the break is
the Nebraska football team’s Fiesta
Bowl matchup against Florida State.
