Redskins scalp Comhuskers Nebraska men’s basketball coach Danny Nee was embarrassed. As Ohio’s coach from 1980 to 1986, he had lost to Miami of Ohio before, but never as badly as he did Monday night. Redskin forward Tim Stewart poured in 34 points, including seven three-point shots, as Miami of Ohio defeated the Cornhuskcrs91 -71 before 2,947 fans in Millctl Hall at Oxford, Ohio. The Redskins connected on 10 of 16 three point shots in the first half, and 14 of 22 for the game. Nebraska hit on only 2 of 9 from three point range. In his post-game radio show, Nebraska coach Danny Nee said the three-point shots weren’t his main concern. “We just didn’t execute in any way to night,” Nee said. ‘‘You can’t really say we were fiat. We just got out-played, out-hustled and out-worked. ” Miami jumped to a 34-17 lead midway through the first half, and extended its lead to as much as 21 points. Stewart connected on 8 of 8 shots from the field, including four from three point range, and one free throw. Forward Craig Michaclis added 20 points for the Redskins, 17 of which came in the first half. Miami of Ohio led by as much as 30 in the second half. The Redskins shot 55 percent from the field, and hit 9 of 17 from the frcc-lhrow line. Ne braska shot 80 percent from the line, sinking 16 of 20 shots. Center Rich King led the Huskers with 17 points, while Lewis Geter added 14. Ray Richardson and Richard van Poelgccst added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Huskers. Nee tried to sift positive aspects from the loss. 4 4 It’s good to gel the-baptism now,*’ he said. “Everybody has to gel stung sometime, so better now than during conference play. The kids can learn from this.’* The lesson the Huskers need to learn quickly, Nee said, is how to win games away from Lincoln.
