Sayers, an Omaha Central graduate who is a member of the National Football League’s Hall of Fame, is the third-leading rusher in Kansas history with 2,675 yards. ^His 99-yard run against the Ne braska Comhuskers in 1963 is a school record. , Sayers spent seven seasons with the NFL s Chicago Bears before retiring in 1972.
