“To (Stahr’s) credit, she told us she was in
pain,” he said. “She knows her value to this
team, and I think she has some confidence in
our other people. Sara, Stephanie and Becki
each did a nice job.”
After Nebraska called time out leading 5-3
in the fourth game, Walton said he tried to fire
his team up, but “what happened was that,
instead of being tougher, we didn’t respond at
a critical time in the game.”
We had a chance to grab the momentum
and we didn’t,” he said. “Shortly after that,
NCTi?S^a l0°k over an^ won ihc match.”
The match marked the season debut of
sophomore outside hitter Cris Hall, who
missed the Huskers’ first three matches be
cause of back spasms, and the return of fresh
man outside hitter Eileen Shannon, who sat out
rriday s match against Bowling Green be
cause of back problems.
Hall had 25 kills and a team-high 23 digs,
while Shannon, whose playing time was lim

ited, had 16 kills.
“We were very fortunate we had Cris and
Eileen healthy or we would have had trouble,”
Pettit said.' ‘We still found a way to do it. This
was the most pleasing win to this point.”
Walton said the Huskers’ whole-squad ef
fort is the sign of a great team.
“Any team that wants to slay in the top-20
has to be able to win despite sickness or in
jury,” he said. “They have to be able to win
with whoever is on the floor.”
