Drawing raises money for scholarship Student to trade places with Griesen By Pattie Greene Staff Reporter University of Nebraska-Lin coln students who pay $1 can win the chance to trade places with James Gricscn, vice chancellor for student affairs. Student Foundation is sponsor ing the program, called “Trading Places ’89," to raise money for a new scholarship for seniors, said Phil Goseh, Student Foundation president. The drawing will be held Mon day, and on Sept. 14, the winning student will run Gricsen’s staff meeting and teach Gricsen’s uni versity foundations class, he said. Gricscn will attend the winning student’s class that best fits his schedule, fill out a library packet that new students use to familiar ize themselves with Love Library, and stand in line at the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Goseh said. At the end of the day, Gricscn will visit the student’s room and possibly clean it. The winner also will receive a S100 gift certificate from the Nc RECREATION from Page 1 length of 25 yards and a maximum depth of four feet. The center also will feature four new basketball courts, all of which will convert to volleyball courts. The courts arc in addition to the three courts already in use in the NU Coli seum. The center’s opening is the second phase in a series of three. Cook Pavil ion, which houses the indoor practice field, was constructed for Phase I. The center is connected to Cook Pavilion, which is open to students from 6:30 a.m. to 1:3() p.m. when the field is not used by the football team. Cook Pavilion, completed in November 1987, cost S8.5 million. Phase II started in April 1988 and cost S6 million, Campbell said. He estimates Phase III, the remod eling of the Coliseum, will cost S5.2 million. The remodeling is scheduled to begin in January and take about 1 1/2 years to complete. In the basement of the Coliseum, the locker rooms will be renovated and saunas added. An aerobic and conditioning room also will be added and a combative arts area is planned. “The whole area will be gutted.' Campbell said. The basketball courts in the Coli seum will be replaced by offices and classrooms. A center for healthy life styles, where students can consult with staff members on exercise pro grams and nutrition, also will be constructed. Campbell said another floor with four basketball courts will be built above the offices. Other plans include a first aid/ training room and pro shop. The center is free to all UNL stu dents with identification. Students without picture IDs must show their student IDs and their driver’s li censes. __ I-—— Man watches female student bathe in Sandoz From Staff Reports A female Student reported see ing a man watch her bathe in a women’s restroom on the sixth floor of Sandoz Hall Sunday after noon, according to University of Netoraska-Lincobi police. Sgt. Mylo Bushing said the man was tn the opposite shower stall looking over at the woman when she called out, “Who’s there?” The man then ran from the restroom, lie said. Student Foundation is selling the tickets to raise money to estab lish a new scholarship for seniors based on scholastic and extracur ricular performance, Gosch said. The money raised from the ticket sales will go into an endow ment fund with the interest used for the scholarship, Gosch said. By Tuesday afternoon, 350 tickets had been sold, he said. Gosch said the foundation hopes to sell 750 by Friday. Gosch said Gricscn was inter ested in the project from its begin ning. “He even helped plan some of the events,” he said. Gosch said the foundation hopes to make Trading Places an annual event using other univer sity officials. Tickets will be sold from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today, Thursday and Friday in the Nebraska Union or by any foundation member.
