Kids and camel dung not so bud after all
- Shaun Saftin/ Dally Nebraskan
Jessica Halter doesn’t hesistate when it comes to petting rats.
By John Payne
Staff Rcfxvter
When asked to do a story at th<
Zoo, 1 volunteered without hesita
tion. “W'ho’splaying?” 1 asked. Nu
no, no, they explained to me - ani
mals.
"Impossible, I assured them
Eric Burden split from those guy
years ago.”
Then it hit me - the Folsom Chi
dren’s Zoo. Screaming kids an
camel dung, and they don’t eve
serve beer.
But to its credit I must say that
was quite surprised by the fine co
lection of exotic animals and bo
any to be found at our capitol city
zoo.
The Folsom Children’s Zoo i
located on 8 1/2 acres of land ;
2800 A St. and is a fun, education;
way for people of all ages to spen
an afternoon.
It is a place of endless trivia. F<
instance, did you know that fema
alligators can hatch up to 70 eggs;
once? Or that Snowy Owls mak
their nests on the ground? Or th
the White-Faced Duck actual
whistles instead of quacking? C
that the Pygmy Marmoset weigl
only 4 ounces?
