Suspected vandal may face several charges I By Cristine Romano Staff Reporter A Lincoln teenager was arrested early Wednesday morning on sus picion of vandalizing the Folsom Children’s Zoo and killing several small animals. Gerald D. Soundsleeper, 1.9, was arrested shortly before 8 a.m., according to Lt. David Beggs of the Lincoln Police Department. Beggs said Soundsleeper could be charged with several counts, in cluding vandalism, burglary and larceny. Police said Soundsleeper ap peared intoxicated at the time of his arrest. When police arrived at the scene, it appeared several animals recently had been killed, including a guinea pig, a rat, some salaman ders and a frog, Beggs said. Soundsleeper could be charged with vandalism for allegedly “ran sacking” the inside of the zoo’s food emporium, Beggs said. The zoo post office and the popcorn wagon also were damaged, he said. Soundsleeper apparently had taken most of the coins from the zoo’s fountain and also could be charged with burglary, he said. Beggs said Soundsleeper had been arrested last month for break ing into the zoo and stealing coins. The county attorney’s office did not know what Soundsleeper would be charged with Wednes day evening. A zoo employee coming to work found Soundsleeper in the zoo and attempted to detain him, Beggs said. Soundsleeper then hit the em ployee and tried unsuccessfully to escape over a wall. Zoo Director John Chapo said most areas of the zoo remained open Wednesday. urns BUT B RMTIMKAL LIFE IK] HELL ©1969 By ^ NNATT Q>V.oe AVOID THESE ELVES t\ o jfo'.'c WHIN'S) SURLS5 Shoot?
