Nee announces schedule

for men’s basketball team
Seventeen home games, including
five games against teams that partici
pated in last year’s NCAA Tourna
ment, are included in Nebraska’s
1989-90 men’s basketball schedule.
The Comhuskers will take the
court 13 times against teams that
participated in postseason games last
year, meeting NCAA Tournament
competitors Idaho, Creighton, Mis
souri, Iowa State, Oklahoma and
Kansas State. Nebraska will also
meet National Invitation Tourna
ment participants Michigan State, the
tournament’s 4th place finisher, and
Oklahoma State.
After opening the season with
exhibition games against Australia’s
Brisbane Bullets on Nov. 10 and
Athletes in Action Nov. 17, the Husk
ers will play Missouri-Kansas City in
the season opener on Nov. 25 in the
Bob Devaney Sports Center.
A two-game road trip to Miami
(Ohio) and Michigan Slate precedes
the 3rd annual Ameritas Classic, Dec.
1 and 2. Nebraska, the Classic’s de
fending champion, will play Harvard
in the first round, while Air Force and
Pepperdine play in the other first
round game.
Following a Dec. 5 game at North
ern Illinois, the Huskers return to
Lincoln for games against Texas
Tech and Idaho, then travel to Omaha
to face Creighton.
Nebraska will then play Wagner
College and Sam Houston State be
fore opening the Big Eight Confer
ence schedule against Kansas Jan. 8
at the Sports Center.
‘‘It’s a solid schedule,” Nebraska
coach Danny Nee said. “The non
conference portion of the schedule is
designed to prepare us for the Big
Eight season, and I believe it docs a
good job of that.”
