She also said new computerized cash registers have been installed that will accept the new photo identifica tion cards. The cash registers will read the magnetic bands, and then will give a student’s name and identi fication number. The total cost of implementation will be from $50,000 to $70 000 Chamberlain said. The computer system will be purchased with funds from the Parking Enforcement Divi sion, she said. The division last year generated $985,000 in revenue from permits meters, fines and lot rentals. The division receives no money from the university, she said. Car hits fountain; driver leaves scene From Staff Reports The driver of a vehicle that struck Broyhill Fountain at about 3:15 a.m. Saturday reportedly ran from the vehicle after the accident, according to University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department records. The individual was seen stum bling at 14th and R streets by an officer, was picked up and admitted to hitting the fountain, said UNL Police Cpl. Linda McEntarffer. The individual was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident, McEntarffer said. The fountain received an esti mated $4,000 in damages, while $3,000 in damages was reported to the vehicle, she said.
