guitar almost immediately. She said
she might give her brother the So
lofiex also.
Keitges said she can use all the
rest of the stuff, even though she still
has to pay sales tax.
“I’m kind of dreading that.”
The people on the show were
really nice, she said.
“Now that they’ve gained minor
celebrity, I didn’t know what to ex
pect,” she said about the gameshow
stars.
“Cory is so nice, and Collin and
Ken were hilarious,” she said.
“They were so supportive.”
“Everybody from MTV is so
nice. You never would have guessed
they were famous people.”
Her opponents also were nice, she
said. Keitges played against Mark
from the University of Florida and
Houston from the University of
Texas.
“Cory asked him if that was his
real name, Ken came out and asked
him if it was his real name, and then
Collin asked him if it was his real
name,” she said. Houston was his
real name, even though he grew up in
New Jersey she said.
Keitges’ appearance will air on
Jan. 30.
Five students were chosen in
September to represent the Univer
sity of Nebraska-Lincoln on MTV’s
gameshow. Laurie Wood is a Kansas
State University student, who came
to UNL for the tryouts. She and Jef
frey Adams, a junior in the arts and
science college, was unavailable for
comment.

MTV from Page 11
“No other film contest would al
low them to edit or dub a piece,” he
said.
In its talent search, MTV looks for
college students who are U.S. citi
zens and residents to create and pro
duce short-form and long-form pro
gramming on 3/4- or 1/2-inch VHS
format tape.
Short-form programming is sup
posed to be 10 seconds to 3 minutes
in length. MTV Networks’ official
rules suggest animation, music video
and film shorts as the subjects.
Long-form programming is 10 to
30 minutes in length, and includes
such things as concerts, situation
comedies, documentaries and talk
shows.
According to the rules, the judges
will decide on the basis of original
ity, creativity, and “what best dc
fines the altitude of MTV.”
Ten college campuses are partici
pating in the contest: Columbia Uni
versity, William Patterson Univer
sity, University of Southern Califor
nia, Michigan State, University of
Wisconsin, University of Georgia,
Athens and the University of Ne
braska-Lincoin. These schools were
chosen as a result of a survey called
‘‘College Scan,” a press release
said.

entries must be received by Jan. 30,
1989.
Up to 12 finalists from each col
lege will be selected by Jan. 30,
1989, the rules slate. A five or six
member committee made up of stu
dents and faculty from l!NL will
select and submit two long-form and
10 short-form videos.
In spite of the rules, Dixon said he
thinks a lot of people arc still going to
enter the contest. As for which uni
versity will win the competition, he
said it was a “crap shoot.”
“I don’t know who’s going to win
and who’s not,” he said.
Bourne said she’s received only
two videos from UNL students so far.
If she doesn’t receive more than 12
videos, the films that have been sub
mitted still must be judged, she said.
“It’ll be judged no matter how
many entries I receive,” she said.
Of the college winners, two grand
prize winners will be chosen by April
1, 1989. Grand prize is $5,000 and
the winners’ videos will be aired on
MTV.
