Richards Hall galleries differ Departmental gallery shows professional art By Mark Lage Staff Reporter Both the Art League of Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Lincoln Department of Ar have galleries in Richards Hall on cam . pus. The Art League Gallery is located on the 2nd floor in room 205, while the Department of Art Gallery is in room 102, just inside the south doors of Richards Hall. Each gallery serves a different purpose and features different groups of artists. The Art Uague Gallery is a student run gallery, and all faculty and students are wel come to submit works for display in the gallery, said Karen Brooke, an Art League member. The Department of Art Gallery has a theme for their shows and displays works by professional art ist much of the time, said Tania Rouintree, president of the Art League. Another major difference be tween the two galleries is the Art Leagues is a "non-juried" gallery, while the Art Department s is "ju ried,” and its shows are curated, said both Rouintree and Brooke. The fact that the Art League Gal lery is a non-juried gallery essen tially means that anyone can show anything they want, including ex perimental art and even unfinished art, Rouintree said.
