    Agent Leigh Steinberg
slated to speak at UNL
Leigh Steinberg, a California
attorney and sports agent, will
sped: today at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law
on the topic of sports law and being
a sports agent.
Steinberg will appear at 4 p.m.
in the Center-Pie room of the Ross
McCollum Building in room 112.
The speech is open to the public
and is free of charge.
Steinberg, 39, is the agent for 27
first-round draft choices in various
sports. Included among the list of
Steinberg's clients are major
league baseball players Will Clark
of the San Francisco Giants and
Cory Snyder of the Cleveland Indi
ans; National Football League
quarterbacks Steve Young of the
San Francisco 49ers and Warren
Moon of the Houston Oilers; and
National Basketball Association
player Byron Scou of the Los
Angeles Lakers.
Steinberg said Wednesday from
his office in Berkeley, Calif., that
the field of sports law is probably
“the hottest field going.
“It’s gone from being of profes
sion of200 to 300 agents in 1970 to
a field of 10,000 to 15,000 today,”
he said. “Some agents today don't
have more than a business card, but
they still consider themselves
agents.”
