If possible, the service will pro
vide programming for most areas cur
rently not served by public radio.
Another objective for the Commis
sion is to prdvidc a three-fold service
with national, state-wide and local
programming.
Meanwhile, the Public Radio
Nebraska Foundation, Inc., will con
tinue to develop fund raising plans for
each proposed new broadcast area in
greater Nebraska. The Foundation
hopes to be able to raise approxi
mately 25 percent of equipment cosh
within each new coverage area. These
funds are necessary for the construe
tion of new transmission facilities
Only after these funds are raised maj
the Commission apply to the PTFF
program for 75 percent federal
matching funds.
Since public networks do not rcl>
upon commercials for income, the
fund-raising is extremely critical foi

tion permit in August or September,
1989. The application includes back
grounds on finances, equipment, etc.,
and if everything is in order and ap
proved, the permit will be awarded.
If successful, this would become a
major link of public radio throughout
the state. Perhaps in the near future,
citizens across the stale will tune in to
the new service on quiet summer
nights and enjoy a new and interesting
public radio service.
