    . School’s almost out, but bands keep playing

Even though school is almost out
for the summer, bands and music will
continue to grace our fair city with
their presence. The big summer tours
will be cranking up soon, and local
bands will, as always, be playing
anytime and anywhere they get the
chance.
This list, while by no means com
plete, is a listing of currently sched
uled music appearances in the city
and area in the next month. There
undoubtedly will be additions.
At the Zoo Bar this Monday and
Tuesday, Jr. Medlow & the Bad Boys
will play rhythm and blues from
Austin, Texas. On Wednesday,
Blonde Waltz will appear, and on
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, An
son Funderburgh and the Rockets
with Sam Myers, “blues from Dallas”
will play.
On Thursday, The Limit and Lie
Awake will play at Chesterfields. Lie
Awake also will play on Friday and
The Limit will play on Saturday.
At Duffy’s, the New Brass Guns,
The Return and Out of Habit will play
a triple-bill Friday and Saturday.
At the Zoo, Top Jimmy and the
Rhythm Pigs will play May 9. Ame
thyst is scheduled for May 10th, and
Bobby Lowell & Co. will play on
Bobby’s birthday, May 11. On May
12, 13 and 14, a six-piece, blues
based band, The Blue Band, will
appear there.
At Chesterfields, The Loose will
play May 13 and 14. At Duffy’s, Trout
Mystery will play those same dates.
At the Zoo, Rock Formation will
appear on May 16, the Tablerockers
on May 17 and The Switch on May 18.
Downy Mildew, Trout Mystery
and Hetch Hetchy will play Duffy’s
May 17.
At the Zoo, Joe Louis Walker and
the Boss Talkers, a recording artist
from San Francisco, will play May
19, 20 and 21.
Joe Walsh will appear at the Sand
stone Theater on May 21.
On May 23, the Tablcrockers will
make an appearance at the Zoo and
The Swaydos will play on May 24.
At Duffy’s on May 24, H R regge,
(ex-Bad Brains members) will ap
pear, and Mile One will play on May
25.
At the Zoo on May 25, Dog Body
will appear and on May 26, B & the
Hot Notes will play.
At Arrowhead in Kansas City,
Pink Floyd will play May 26. Tickets
arc $22.50 with dial-a-ticket, or
$64.95 for the Q102 Concert Cara
van.
On May 27 and 28, San Diego
recording artists, Paladins, will play
their bluesy rock-a-billy at the Zoo.
On May 30 Lunch Money will play
and on May 31, The Blue Crew will
appear.
On May 31 at the Met Center in
Minneapolis, Robert Plant will give a
concert.
On June 1, The Bill Wimmcr
Group will play jazz at the Zoo.
“Those dangerous gentlemens from
L.A.,”The James Harman Band, will
play on June 2, 3 and 4.
At Chesterfields, Sidekick will
play on June 2 and 3. On June 4, a
KZUM benefit is scheduled, with the
Cramm Brothers, a DJ rap group.
On June 3, Charlie Burton and the
Hiccups will appear at Duffy’s.
On June 5, at the Met Center in
M inneapolis, A C/DC and White Lion
will appear.
I he laolerockcrs will play the
Zoo June 6. Dog Body will show upon
June 7, and Kristi Rose and the Mid
night Walkers from New York City
will appear June 8 and 9. From Dallas
Bugs Henderson and the Shuffle
Kings will play June 10 and 11.
At the Zoo, D.J. Lebowitz will
return on June 13, Anson Funder
burgh and the Rockets will play on
June 14, and Magic Slim and the
Teardrops will play on June 15 and
16. Lonnie Mack will plays June 17
and 18.
Lie Awake will appear at Chester
fields on June 17 and 18.
Yabba Griffiths & Traxx Reggae
will play June 24 and 25 at the Zoo,
Last Roundup on June 28, while
James Harman Band is scheduled to
play on June 29. Buddy Guy will
plays June 30 at the Zoo.
