Presented by Daedalus Produc tions, the Omaha performance is only part of a national tour. Performances are at 7:30 p.m., and a 2 p.m. matinee performance is on Saturday. Tickets are $22, $18 and $15, with senior citizens receiving a $5 discount at the matinee. * * * * * The University of Nebraska Lincoln Orchestra, directed by Robert Emile, will perform a free public concert 8 p.m. Friday at Kimball Recital Hall. Selected music includes Eng lish composer Edward Elgar’s “Cockaigne Overture,” George Enesco’s “Second Roumanian Rhapsody,” Aram Khatchaturian’s “Masquerade Suite” and Alan Hovhaness’s “Prelude and Quad ruple Fugue.” The orchestra is made up of 56 auditioned members from many different colleges at UNL. The variety of majors is a tradition; some of the key players do not have music majors. In addition to orchestra per formances, the UNL Orchestra ac companies the University Singers, Oratorio Chorus, senior recitals and serves as the pit orchestra for UNL opera productions. * * * * * An art historian specializing in Byzantine art will present the next lecture, 7 p.m. Sunday, in the Shel don Memorial Art Gallery’s Cen tennial Lecture Series. Sarah Bassett Clucas’ lecture will be in the Sheldon Gallery Au ditorium. The lecture will relate to the current exhibition, “Sheldon Sam pler: European Selections.”Clucas will focus on the Sheldon’s paint ings donated by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. The paintings date from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries. Clucas’ interests have been pri marily in Roman influences on early Christian art, but she has also taught Renaissance and Baroque art history at Colorado College and Swarthmore College. Now she is a post-doctoral fel low at Dumbarton Oaks Research Library in Washington, D.C. She earned Iter B.A. degree in art his tory at Smith College, her M.A. from the University of Chicago and her Pti.D. at Bryn Mawr. The Centennial Lecture Series is funded by the Nebraska Com mittee for the Humanities. Addi tional support was provided by the Cooper Foundation, the Nebraska Arts Council and the Peter Kiewit Foundation. The lecture is open to the public without charge, and there will be a reception in Clucas’ honor in the Sheldon Great Hall after the lec ture. * * * * * The Ralph Mueller Planetarium at UNL will celebrate its 30th anni versary in April with a round of special activities and spectacular shows on the planetarium’s 34-foot dome. The celebration starts Sunday with a special anniversary show. Presentations will beat 1:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. there will be a special 1958 edition of the planetariums “50’s Flashback” laser show featuring hits of Chuck Berry, Little Rich ard, Buddy Holly and others. Regular laser show prices apply to these productions. Both of the an niversary events will be free. On April 16, the planetarium will celebrate world-wide commu nications via satellite and the peacef ul uses of space with demon strations of television from all over the world. The program will be presented in cooperation with the SCOLA (Satellite Communications for Learning) Project of Creighton University. On April 23, the planetarium will celebrate National Astronomy Day with the Prairie Astronomy Club. The celebration will feature displays of telescopes, astrophoto graphy, computers, graphics and astronomical information in the planetarium lobby. Laser Fantasies shows on Fri day and Saturday nights will con tinue as scheduled.
