Lincoln group to sponsor free beach party, Thursday From Staff Reports The snow has barely melted off the grass, but already Lincoln’s Updown towners are sponsoring a Treasure Island Beach Party Thursday night. Music, dancing and a drawing for a trip will probably draw 150 people or more to the party, said Velma Hackman, an administrative assistant to the group. Hackman said the group of about 260 members gets together every month for social activities. The dance is free and everyone is invited to attend, she said. The dance will also be a way of recruiting new members, she said. ‘‘I imagine there will be a pretty good turnout for the drawing,” Hack man said. One couple will win a trip for two to Cancun, Mexico, she said. Hackman said she didn’t know how long the trip will be, but the winner will be able to pick the departure date. Craig Estudillo will be the an nouncer for the dance. The dance is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the former J.C.
