Too little time to go to the union to eat or sleep, but loo much time to go sit outside the class door. What to do with extra lime between classes? Well, if you’re interested in art or even just curious, there arc several places to quickly scan or, when time allows, slowly peruse some of the art produced by the students and faculty of the University of Nebraska-Lin coin. Richards Hall, pext door to the practical Ferguson, Brace and Bchlen halls and in the shadow of the athletic state capitol (Memorial Stadium), is home to two galleries. The building lends an artistic ambiance of its own with its rough, somewhat bohemian look of unfinished walls and bare concrete floors in many of the class studios. Studio projects in progress and other displayed artworks from classes may distract visitors looking for the galleries, but they arc rccog nizablc as a bit more polished than the rcstof the hall: The brick walls are mostly covered and the concrete floor has a layer of clear sealant, but a bit of the roughness remains. The Art Department Gallery on the first floor is nearing the end of its third year. It is used for shows of art by both faculty and undergraduates and serves as an exhibition space for the sis work by all candidates for master ’ s degrees and for various o^asional See ART on 11
