Honors program open to top students From Staff Reports Students with proven ability and a distinguished academic rec ord may apply for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln honors pro gram. Patrice Berger, associate pro fessor of history and director of the University Honors Program, said students with 45 credit hours or less at the end of this semester and a proven academic record may apply for the program. Honors program students are usually incoming high school sen iors with a composite ACT score of 29 or above, Berger said. However, some sophomores were admitted to the program last year. Berger said he has sent letters to prospective applicants, but stu dents who did not score high on the ACT, but have an appropriate grade point average also are en couraged to apply for the program. Students admitted to the pro gram are given the opportunity to integrate a broad, liberal education with a specialized area of concen tration in a major subject. The program also gives students with superior academic ability and in terests to meet as a group to explore cultural, social and intellectual programs and activities. Berger said students interested in the program can pick up applica tions and information in Nebraska Union 345. Application deadline for the program is Jan. 13,1988. A faculty committee appointed by Robert Furgason, vice chancellor for aca demic affairs, will decide which applicants are eligible for the pro gram. ! 3 Cookies | for . ^ ! a $1 1000’s of Titles for I $3.99 Each Adam Ant J Count Basie J Blue Oyster Cult Jeff Beck J Tommy Bolin J The Boomtown Rats The Birds J (’heap Trick J Chicago J Kansas I Box of Frogs J Stanley Clarke J Billy Holiday Jimmy Cliff J Elvis Costello J Bob James Jethro Tull J Robert Johnson J Janis Joplin Journey J Jules & The Polar Bears The Buggies J Billy Joel J Leo Kottke Loggins & Messina J Nick Lowe jTaj Mahal Bob Marley & The Wailers J Frank Marino Charles Mingus J Fun Boy Three J The Clash Duke Ellington & The Fabulous Thunderbirds i I Generation X J David Gilmour J Heart I Benny Goodman J Maynard Ferguson Ian Hunter J Janis Ian J Dan Fogelberg Alberta Hunter J Aretha Franklin J NRBQ Ted Nugent J The Psychedelic Furs J Saga Reo Speedwagon J Santana J Romeo Void I The Romantics J Bos Stags J Muddy Waters Michael Schenker J Huey Lewis & The News Thelonious Monk J Robin Trower J UFO jL Ian Dury & The Blockheads J Bob Dylan Dave Edmunds J Electric Light Orchestra Lene Lovich J Miles Davis J A1 Di Meola New Riders of the Purple Sage J Eric Gale Frank Sinatra J Simon & Garfunkel Paul Winter J Saxon J Barbra Streisand Tom Scott J Yellowman & hundreds more.
