Import shops, by definition, offer the most eclectic and exotic selections of gift ideas. Unfortunately, most import stores are priced for only the very upscale. But Lincoln has a notable exception to this trend, Helping Hands Crafts and Books, at a brand new location at 1281 S. Corner. According to its own literature, Helping Hands is a charitable concern which buys hand made crafts from independent craft makers all over the world. The shop is staffed with volunteer help and about 50 percent of the purchase price goes back to the crafts maker. Prices are based on the standard of living of the country of origin, so the more impoverished the country, the less expensive the craft. Hand carved stone and wood, wicker and rattan baskets and furniture, brass, hand woven blankets and covers can be found at Helping Hands. Many of the items are priced between $1 and $20. . nor :ol_o» *rGift Ideas To Make Your Spirits Bright Get a Job $11.95 Grapevine $12.50 From Pee Wee Herman and Bloom County to The Far Side, you'll find a great shirt for your favorite friend or family member.
