By Dave Meile
Thursday, 11:50 p.m. ch. 4:
“The Wild One” (1951) Marlon
Brando, Lee Marvin.
Considered a classic and the
first real biker movie. Marlon and
Lee arc hooligans who terrorize a
small town. Featuring the now
famous lines “Hey, Johnny, what
are you rebelling against?”
Brando: “What ya got?” For the
other end of the spectrum, see the
video entries below.
Friday, 8 p.m. USA, ch. 17:
“Island Claw” (1980) Robert
Lansing.
Producer and director make a
film too stinky to even release to
theaters, so it’s sold to TV. This is
it. The film deals with the prob
lems caused by giant crabs. The
USA Network deals in junk.
Saturday, 11 a.m. WTBS, eh. 4:
“Godzilla, King of the Mon
sters” (1954) Raymond Burr,
Takashi Shimura.
Here it is! The movie that made
‘Zilla a, uh . . . a big star. The
rotund one is awakened by an
atomic blast and tramples Tokyo.
No chest beating, smoke-ring
blowing, flying groin kicks, hyper
trombone music or any other
childish flapdoodle that makes the
14 later ‘Zilla flicks such dum
dum favorites. Shimura was in lots
of Akira Kurosawa’s films. In
added American footage, Ray
mond Burr looks on with concern.
Saturday, 1 p.m. USA,eh. 17.
“The Witchmaker” (1969)
Hank Kimball from “Green
Acres.”
