After several flop movies, Zadora makes music work PIA from Page 8 But some may not know of her voice’s quality. “I hope so,” she says. “I love shock value.” Zadora recently made a TV special with Frank .Sinatra celebrating the 100th anniversary of Las Vegas. She also has a small role in cult guru John Waters’ upcoming comedy “Hair spray,” starring Sonny Bono. In the film, she plays the beatnik girlfriend of the Cars’ Ric Ocasck. “In the film, I have this wig on and I look likel’m in ‘TheMunstcrs,’”she says. Audiences from prerelease screen ings of “Hairspray” gave Zadora an 80 percent positive response. She says she loved working with Waters, the creator of “Pink Flamingos” and “Polyester,” both known for star Di vine, a 300-pound transvestite. “John Waters and I have a little vicarious affair going on,” she says jokingly. “I’ve been dying to work with him.” Waters and Zadora became friends when he interviewed her for American Film magazine. An alleged violation of that law forced Duffy’s Tavern, 14120 St., to stop serving drinks in fishbowls earlier this month. At a meeting last Thursday, Duffy’s owners and managers Reynold McMeen and A1 Hummel appealed to the commission to clarify discrepancies concerning the amount of alcohol that can be served in one container. The dri nks served at the ir estab lishment were apparently in viola tion ol uie multiple drink act in Chapter Six, Section 026.04 of the State Liquor Commission Guide lines. The act now reads: “For the puipose of this rule the words ‘drink’ and ‘drinks’ shall mean with respect to liquor, a container containing no more than 11/2 fluid ounces of the same spirits ...” The rule also sets legal limits on beer and wine drink sizes. Forest Chapman, director of the Nebraska State Liquor Commis sion, said the commission voted unanimously Thursday to propose eliminating the rule from the commission guidelines. The drinks sold at Duffy’s con tained a half gallon of bar patrons’ choice of cocktail and were to be consumed by two or more people. The law makes no provision for drinks intended to be consumed by a group. Duffy’s now serves a Fishbowl drink containing 11/2 fluid ounces of several different liquors that is within the parameters of the mul tiple drink act, Hummel said. “The people who are strict gin and-tonic drinkers may be a little disappointed, but the new fish bowls may be better than ever,” he said. The commission will conduct a public hearing on Jan. 13 to con sider input from concerned citi zens. The commission will then decide whether to invoke the administrative procedures act, which is required by state law to remove a law from the books, Chapman said. “Until then, the rule is still on the books and will be enforced,” Chapman said.
