    Auditions this week
for feminist satire
Auditions tor Sarah Daniels’
“Ripen Our Darkness” will be Wed
nesday through Friday in Temple
Building 16.
“Ripen Our Darkness” is a com
bination of social comment and bit
ing humor in an irreverent portrait
of wives and daughters battling the
absurdities and oppressiveness of
male domination. Daniels’ feminist
satire focuses on a middle-aged
housewife whose life of drudgery
drives her to suicide and a celestial
meeting with the feminist trinity.
En route, she successfully Fights
off her husband’s attempt to com
mit her for psychiatric care and
comes to terms with her daughter’s
lesbianism.
The play offers a number of roles
for women and men ages 20 to 60.
Auditions are open to all members
of the Lincoln community and no
preparation is necessary.
The play is scheduled to run Sept.
24-26 in the UNL Studio Theatre. For
more information, contat Tamara
Compton, 476-0384, or Bruce Tinker,
472-2072.
Bennett Martin Public Library
to show ‘Sweet Betsy and Ike ’
“Sweet Betsy and Ike,” a humorous
folk version of the popular pioneer bal
lad “Sweet Betsy from Pike” performed
with puppets, will be presented Satur
day in the Heritage Room of the Ben
nett Martin Public Library, 14th and N
streets.
The show is co-written by puppet
eers Sam Ridge and Mark Krivda. The
marionettes were made by Lynne
Hazuka-Ridge.
Fiddle player Terry Keefe will pro
vide music for the performance.
As in an old-time vaudeville melo
drama, "Sweet Betsy and Ike” will
encourage audience participation and
will feature traditional American folk
music.
The performance will begin at 10:30
a.m. It is financed by the Lincoln Arts
Council and free to the public.

Are those long walks
to class wearing
ton your feet?
Dr. Paul Klawitter
Dr. John MCgarry
Dr. Steve Chapman
The Foot-Ankle Clinic
Says:
THINK OF YOUR FOOT FUNCTIONING VERY
SIMILAR TO THE FRONT END OF YOUR CAR.
When your car's out of alignment
The tires wear out
Uneven stress is placed on the frame
The steering wheel begins to shake
Soon the car functions so badly, you can’t drive it
THE MISALIGNED FOOT DOES THE SAME THING.
Pressures develop and trouble starts immediately
Bones move against bones
Ligaments become stretched
Soon the entire alignment of your entire body is faulty
SYMPTOMS OF FAULTY FOOT FUNCTION
* localized foot pain
* then bunions, corns, and calluses
* before long, pain in the knees
* hip pain, leg cramps
* back pain
* and even neck pain-headaches
* fatigue
YOU JUST HURT ALL OVER!
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Call Dr. Paul Klawitter and Associates at Ambulatory
Foot and Ankle Clinic for free consultation or exam ^
through the month of September.
