" Problems nix
condo parking
By Amy Edwards
Senior Reporter
Georgia developers who proposed a
condominium parking lot near Memor
ial Stadium have canceled their plans
for the 1987 football season.
Kevin Rhodes, an officer of Mega
Corp. in Lincoln, said developers have
postponed plans to build the condo
park because of lack of interest, title
problems and poor timing.
Mega Corp., a commercial real est
ate company, had been selling the
parking stalls for Longview Develop
ment Corp. of Savannah, Ga., since
April.
Rhodes said buyers of the parking
stalls receive rights to use the stalls
and a common two-story building with
a kitchenette and restrooms for tail
gate parties and other functions during
the year.
The stalls were sold for $10,900.
Although several had been sold, Rhodes
said they had fallen short of their
target number. Once the decision was
made to delay the development plans,
Mega Corp. stopped selling the lots and
returned the money to purchasers of
the stalls.
Pacific Railroad and North Western
Transportation Co. own the land the
proposed parking lot would occupy.
Union Pacific manages the land.
Rhodes said he did not know if the
■ developers would try again next year.
