Pago 10 Daily Nebraskan Friday, April 24, 1987 Magic Theatre to air 'Future Soap, ' a fictional tale of life tomorrow The Magic Theatre will open a new science-fictionplay, "Future Soap," on May 1. "Future Soap," written by 1987-88 Rockefeller Fel lowship winner Megan Terry, will have original music by Omahans Bill Farber, Frank Fong, Mark Nelson and Eric Goolsby. It is directed by Gerald Ostdiek. "Future Soap" is the second offering in the Magic Theatre's pro gram of sharing with audiences some of the wealth of new workds created in the '60s that changed the face of the American theater. Ter ry's "Future Soap" was produced on National Educational Television in 1968 and 1969. Do you wonder what life on earth might be like a thousand years from now? In "Future Soap," Terry's characters live, work, eat, Theater Preview play, dream and die in a small cubi cle under the constant surveillance of "Central Control." According to Ostdiek, "You saw 1984 trap human ity under the gaze of Big Brother, look against as "Future Soap" burns in the eye of Central Control." The futuristic set was designed and created by Judith and Daniel Shepard. The Shepards were selected from many area visual artists and sculptors who submitted proposals as a part of the environment instal lation competition sponsored by the Magic Theatre. "Future Soap" will play at the Omaha Magic Theatre, 1417Farnam Street. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be played Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights May 1,2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10,11,15,16, 17 and 18. Downtown circiaG paz&de opens week's f estivitie Performers from the 42nd Sesostris Temple Shrine Circus will parade in downtown Lincoln on Monday, at 7 p.m. Many acts and some animals from the Shrine Circus will be featured. Uni formed units of the Sesostris Shrine also will participate in the parade. The circus is scheduled for Tuesday through May 3 at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum. The parade will form at 15th and N streets and will proceed: O west on N Street to 1 1th Street. O north on 1 1th Street to 0 Street. O east on 0 Street to 15th street. O south on 15th Street to M Street. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, with mati nees at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Thurs day and Friday.
