Presidential candidate Andy Pollock, first vice presidential candidate Shawn Boldt, and second vice presidential candidate John Bergmeyer told more than 100 students in the Nebraska Union Tuesday that Unite's main goal is to build a stronger lobbying force to bring an end to university budget cuts. Pollock said the university's prob lems need to be addressed once and for all. "As chairman and a member of this committee (Government Liaison Com mittee), I've really been aware and almost scared of some of the problems that the university faces," he said. In their platform the candidates said they would expand the GLC and the Adopt-a-Senator program and build a united communications network throughout the university to create a stronger lobbying force. Boldt said previous senates have provided a foundation for many projects that Unite will continue. Unite will continue to work for a feasible alter native to videotaped classes, a student regent vote, implementation of East Campus dropadd and long- and short- Doldt term solutions to parking problems, Boldt said. Candidates also will attempt to break down minority barriers and investigate teacher-evaluation booklets, he said. Numerous proposals that would require changes in the ASUN constitu tion have been brought up this year, Boldt said. Unite will call a constitu tional convention and use the ideas of other schools' student goverments to make a more productive UNL student government, he said. Bergmeyer stressed the involvement of other student groups to provide better leadership. "It's not a one-man, a two-man or a three-man show," Bergmeyer said. "It's everybody taking part and being concerned." Pollock said the party focused on goals they felt were important and obtainable. "We are not promising a lot of services," Pollock said. "The service that we want to provide to you is a good education." Bergmeyer Thanks toyou... it works... forALLOFUS si; : :: A 01 ci wi3. Does your exam have a crush on you?
