KUCV may start new radio network The Nebraska Educational Tele communications Commission has formally backed a proposal that would allow the Nebraska ETV Net work to acquire KUCV-FM public radio, an NETV official confirmed Friday. Jack McBride, NETV general manager, said that the NETC, which along with NU licenses NETV, has advanced the acquisition proposal to the KUCV Board of Directors. Under the plan, KUCV would serve as the flagship station of a state wide radio network. In 1985, the Nebraska Legislature passed a reso lution allowing the NETC to estab lish such a network. No state fund ing was appropriated, however. Union College, which has operated the station since 1968, has ordered that the station become independ ent after June 30. Earlier this month, a 38-member board was formed to decide what course the station will take after it becomes independent. Robert Nefsky, president of Lin coln Fine Arts Radio, Inc., the board considering KUCVs future, said that no formal decision has been made on NETC's offer. "With independence the risks and burdens lie totally with the community," Nefsky said. "On the other hand, we lose our independ ence, but maybe there's a greater possibility it will be funded." The station would be under the control of NETC. UNL, which oper ates the non-commercial KRNU campus station, would not be involved in the operation of the station. "IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME TO HAVE MY CONTACT LENSES FITTED PROPERLY." Like most people, I'm on the go alot. I tried contact lenses a few years ago and was never really happy. Wearing contacts helped my vision but they became a hassle because of the mild discomfort and occasional fuzzy vision. I asked several of my friends who wear contacts to recommend a specialist, and most of them recommended Dr. Powell at the International Contact Lens Clinic. I went to their clinic for a no charge consultation to talk about new contact lenses. Their office offers complete contact lens services and complete optical services including: ' thorough examination, individual fitting, and close supervision curbside parking, convenient central Lincoln location appointments available lunch hours, and Saturdays eight week trial program for close observation of comfort and eye health lens strength or fitting modification if indicated no charge for damaged lenses spare glasses, sunglasses and special solutions for sensitive eyes a continuing care program future upgrading of contact lenses as scientific progress is made. I decided to have them fit my eyes and I was very comfortable with their professional approach, their fees, and their thoroughness. Everyone in their office helped me become a successful wearer. I consider their office outstanding and I recommended them to all my friends. $20Month Budget Plan (no interest or carrying charge) 'O 02. Sheri Townsend University Student
