Thursday, December 11, 1986 Daily Nebraskan Daiiy store may move to East Campnis Union By Kim Schwatze Staff Reporter The Nebraska Union Board Tuesday heard a proposal to temporarily move the UNL Dairy Store to the East Union. The dairy store, now located in H.C. Filley Hall, will be displaced in Sep tember 1987 through 1989 because of scheduled renovation on the hall. John Rupnow, associate professor of food science and technology, told the Union Board a two-year halt in the store's production would hurt the Food Service and Technology Department because its students staff the store as part of the department's work program. Rupnow said he and Union Director Daryl Swanson have identified dairy store products to sell at the East Union that would not compete with the East Union's products. If the proposal is passed, the dairy store will occupy the area east of the East Union's north entrance, next to the East Union Bookstore. Swanson said that the area probably will require some reconstruction. But he said he thought the board could rationalize capitalizing reconstruction of the space because it is a high-traffic area and would be prime space the board could later rent or lease. The board will consider the proposal during the second semester. In other business, the survey that the Union Board commissioned the UNL Marketing Club to conduct has been formulated and will be distrib uted second semester. The survey will be used to determine student interest in bringing retail shops to the Nebraska Union. Swanson said the franchise proposal to bring either Burger King or Hardee's to Union Square is "in administration." He said he has issued a letter to Union Square employees to inform them that their jobs are assured for at least another semester of operation.- . 1 - TONIGHT 25 Draws T;1 TVT; J. 1- j. in iviianignt NO COVER No Strings, No Catches, No Requirements, No Fine Print - JUST THE BEST BAR VALUE IN LINCOLN! ! !
