Alloway said the station is attempting to draw a wider range of interest from the UNL community. The campus radio station is aired through the College of Journalism's broadcasting department and can be found at 90.3 on the FM dial. Broadcasting students should benefit from the experience, which includes playing albums by local bands, airing live bands from the KRNU studio and broadcasting con certs on the station, Alloway said. Alloway said able volunteer stu dents are needed to help air the programs before they can be approved. One program already started is "Coffey and the U Crew in the Morn ing," hosted by UNL broadcasting senior John Coffey. Coffey said the new show allows him to use his creativity in the show. "In the long run, what I'm doing now will prepare me for more crea tive programming at a commercial station," Coffey said. Coffey said he thinks the new programs will draw more student listeners. The Nebraska Union Board decided recently to air KRNU over the union's intercom system. Brian Popelka, host of "Psyche delic Playback," said that his pro gram allows him to break from the KRNU college-station lab format to a commercial format. "It has allowed me to create my own features," he said, "with music from the 1960s and 1970s." Because the broadcasting depart ment is strapped with limited funds, the special programs also have a limited budget, Alloway said. "The students would like us to do more advertising," he said, "but we are not in competition with other stations." KRNU is licensed as a non-commercial station. The programs are geared for a learning experience, Alloway said, and will give many students the opportunity to practice their craft and prepare them for jobs. Downtown 217 N. 11th , East Park Plaza Center passes inspection The University Health Center passed a routine Nebraska State Health Department inspection, conducted Nov. 24 and 25. The inspection, delayed 1 12 years because of Health Department staff shortages, was intended to determine if the Health Center's hospital license should be renewed. Dr. Gerald Fleischli, Health Center director, said the Health Department inspectors thought the Health Center was well-run and a place "they would send their own children." The Health Department found five deficiencies at the Health Center. One deficiency was the Health Cen ter staff's failure to have a complete list of all the medications that are administered. The remaining deficiencies concerned minor janitorial details. The Health Department recommended the Health Center to make sure that orderlies art trained to prepare special diets for patients. Dr. Fleischli said sometimes when nurses are busy the orderlies will prepare meals. Center proposal tentative, will be studied further FACULTY from Page 6 Sen.
