OMAHA The Creighton Bluejays
dropped a bomb on Nebraska Saturday
night. The "three-point bomb," that is.
The Bluejays shot 27 three-point
attempts and connected on 12 of them
in their 78-66 win against Nebraska
before 9,618 fans at Omaha's Civic Aud
itorium. "The three-point play, I thought, was
the difference in the game," Nebraska
coach Danny Nee said. "I really thought

Nebraska forward Anthony Dailous attempts a shot over
Creighton's Gary Swain during Saturday night's 78-6S Blue
'i jay win. Dailous led Nebraska with 15 points.
Creighton came to play and did a good
job with it."
Nee said that coming into the game,
Nebraska was going to try to "play the
percentages" and keep Creighton on
the outside.
"Part of the game plan and what we
had in mind was to make Creighton
shoot from the outside and see what we
could do with them. We had to live with
the game plan," Nee said.
The Cornhuskers jumped out to an
early six-point lead and held on to it
until midway through the first half.
That's when Creighton's Gary Swain
took over.
The senior guard led the way for the
Bluejays with a game-high 2(i points, 17
of which came in the first half.
With the gam ited 15-15 and 8:32
left in the half, Swain hit 11 straight
points. That gave the Bluejays a lead
the didn't surrender for the rest of the
nigh'
Crughion staned the second half
with a 10 point lead that Nebraska
chipped away at. But again the three
pointer took its toll.
Nebraska pulled to within fiv e point s
with 12:40 left, but two three-pointers
by junior Rod Mason and another by
Swain put the Bluejays ahead by 12.
Nebraska climbed back to within
six, but again four straight three-point
goals, three by freshman Matt'Roggeiv
burk, put Creighton ahead 584!) with'
4:3!) left in the game.
With 42 seconds left, Nebraska made
its last serious threat, pulling to four,
at 70-(i(). Then it became a free-throw
contest for Creighton, highlighted by
two technical fouls charged to Nee.
Nee was given the technicals for
coming onto the floor to argue an
intentional foul call. -
"The game was going along tine and;
it's obvious the official was from anW
tain conference, because Tony (Barone)
tells him to start making those calls,";
.Nee said. "It didn't matter. I was going
to let him know that 1 knew he was a
jerk. I just didn't think there was any
reason for those calls.
