Because of a rash of fraudulent re
sumes, employers are more likely than
ever to check your credentials, according
to Paul Barada of Barada Associates Inc.,
an Indiana firm that investigates job
applicants for more than 250 companies.
"It's better for a job candidate to admit
that he's been fired or that he didn't
complete his degree than to lie," Barade
says. "If you're caught lying at the
beginning of your career, it can ruin you
forever."

closer ties with the Soviet Union;
but basically Americans of any
age and any background. He said
political and religious back
grounds will be left behind
because Peace Quest wants to
develop lines of communication,
not converts.
The press conference was Peace
Quest's first contact with the
public. Kasparek said that the
organization relies on the media
for promotion because it has no
money to pay for TV coverage,
newspaper ads or flyers. Peace
Quest has received interest from
local public figures Helen Boosa
lis, Sen. Bill Nichol, Don McGin
ley and Gov. Bob Kerrey. Kerrey
has endorsed the movement by
declaring Nov. 17 Peace Quest
Day. Kasparek said to be com
pletely successful, they need to
move to the national arena.
So far, Peace Quest has sent
letters of information to General
Secretary Gorbachev, Tass News
Agency, Pravda and the Soviet
Embassy in the United States,
which responded with a letter
saying it was a good idea
Peace Quest's goal with the
Soviet government is to get per
mission to travel in the country,
which Kasparek said shouldn't
be a problem. He said traveling
to the Soviet Union will be the
basic means of informing Soviet
citizens.
By creating a broader under
standing betweeen the countries,
Kasparek said the people will,
influence the leaders because
they are part of the citizenry, too.
He said he isn't looking for a
specific policy change and doesn't
claim specific authority on a pol
itical level.
To become involved, letters
can be sent to Doug "Gonzo"
Kasparek, 5025 Prince Rd., Lin
coln, NE 68516, (402) 42:3-1379.
