already has competed in two tournaments this
year and is 0-2-1 in duals.
"At Concordia College, we placed second out
of four teams, and in a tournament in Kansas
City we placed fifth out of eight," Weist said.
Weist said that the Kansas City tournament
mainly consisted of Big Eight schools.
"For single games, we play schools around
here, like UNO, York, and we go to Iowa State
once and then they come here," said Weist. "The
best way to go is to get into a tournament,
because then you can play three games in one
day. It's hard on you, but it's a lot of fun."
The Fall schedule includes a tournament Nov.
8 and 9 in the Uni-Dome at the University of
Northern Iowa.
"We play a couple of games in the spring, and
that's also when the Big Eight tournament is
being held in Boulder, Colorado, this year," he
said. "The spring is usually more important, but
it's a lot shorter because of the weather, and it's
harder to schedule matches."
Weist said the weather hasn't cooperated this
season.
"We've played in a lot of mud this year," he
said.
The players practice on the Mabel Lee Field,
and Weist said anybody can come out and prac
tice with them.
"We never discourage anyone to practice," he
said. "We can't guarantee play in any games, but
the main purpose we're here is to have fun and to
get better at playing soccer."
Senior Reporter
The I'NL Soccer Club is in need of a coach and
a sponsor if they can find one.
"This past year, we've been try ing to get fund
ing from a beer company and get a coach," said
dub treasurer Joe Weist. "Since we don't have
one it's been a big problem. A lot of people show
up for practice, but it's a little unorganized."
