those who must consider special life circum
stances as they search for employment) will be
offered Nov. 5 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Nebraska
Union. Check the daily schedule for room location.
Topics include: creative approaches to job
searching, dealing with skeletons from the past,
obtaining the interview and surviving it, obtain
ing relevant information and other issues as
raised by participants.
Interviewing Tips
Before you walk into an interview, know your
assets. A common question posed by recruiters
is "Tell me about yourself." Use this request to
your advantage by stating your abilities.
For each quality organized, disciplined,
motivated. . . have three personal experiences
to support it. For example, make your organiza
tional skills evident by mentioning your coordi
nating a dance for your sorority, developing
annual programs for a speech club for the last
two years and serving as president for an
accounting association.
Verbalize these ideas by practice interviewing
with a friend. You will feel more confident by
knowing what to say ahead of time.
Have you ever looked at the list of companies
who will be recruiting on-campus through our
office and said: "There is nothing here forme?"
Don't despair. . . On-campus interviewing is only
a very small, but very visible, part of what we do.
