Before I go on to the important
stuff, I have to mention this week's
Elvis movies. But first I must apol
ogize to Elvis' many fans for not
mentioning "Clambake" in last Wed
nesday's Elvis-festival. I'm sorry, it
escaped my attention.
According to my TV schedule,
there are only two Elvis movies this
week. The first, "Charro," shows
tonight at 7 p.m. on WGN, channel 2.
No, Charro herself does not appear
in this movie; they simply stole her
name. The second is the eternal
classic, "Girls! Girls! Girls!" on
Wednesday night on WTBS, channel
4. This is the second Wednesday

Sight: The Photographs of Harold E.
Edgerton," and "Todd Webb: Pho
tographs of New York and Paris,
1945-1959" are now on display. I like
Webb's photos the best. He cap
tures interesting scenes and people
from the two most photogenic cities
in the world.

The master class to be given by
concert singer Elly Ameling today at
3 p.m. has been moved back an hour
to 2 p.m. Ameling presented a con
cert at Kimball Sunday and will
teach master class for UNL vocal

The music and mystique of jazz great
Miles Davis is celebrated when "Great
Performances" airs "Miles Ahead: The
Music of Miles Davis," Sunday at 2 p.m.
on Nebraska ETV'.
The GO-minute performancedocu
mentary features the master trumpe
ter, bandleader and innovator in con
cert with his current band, as well as
rare archival footage from 1959 to the
present and in even rarer, recent on
camera interviews.
The special program also includes
interviews with some of Davis' famous
sidemen such as George Benson, Her
bie Hancock and Keith Jarrett. Reflec
tions on Davis' creativity are provided
by Bill Cosby, Dizzy Gillespie and Gil
Evans.
Along the way in examining Davis'
career over the past 40 years, "Miles
Ahead" features his pioneering jazz
work with the genius of Be-Bop, Charlie

program will present a special feature
story, as well as four regular feature
"Up Front," "At Work" "Lifestyle"
and "Health." A short "Campus Cap
sules" segment is also included. Sev-
eral live call-in programs dealing with a
variety of topics are scheduled to be
broadcast during the season.
The series' premiere program fea
ture focuses on the education of Afghan
refugees living in Pakistan. UNO and
its Afghan Studies staff was awarded
an educational aid grant to promote
Afghan education.
