L By Dave Meile 'Tor a new adventure in ter ror, live through the wild blood bath of the Slime People!" promotional trailer for "The Slime People" (1964) A word about the Canned Film Festival: Dr. Pepper's "Canned Film Festival," a best of the worst films of Hollywood which has run on KETV and KOLN for the past three months, has been mostly unsatisfying. The films are chopped up, the comedy sketches by Laraine New man and friends are long and intru sive, and every 10 minutes the viewer is assaulted with a barrage of glitzy MTV-style ads for Dr. Pepper. Here's the upcoming movies: Thursday at 11:30 p.m., Ch. 7, or Saturday at midnight, Ch. 1011. "The Slime People" (1964) Robert Hutton, Les Tremayne I suppose you could call them slime people. Actually they come from the sewers of L.A., which would mean that they're full of uh. . .well the whole idea is pretty disgusting when you think about it. The slime people have huge heads, are lumpy and goopy and wear ill-fitting hip- waders. Somehow they build a wall .SPAGHETTI 12th Street A of fog that hardens around the city! Marvel at the "film within a film" concept as Hutton and friends watch newsreels of terrified citizens wring ing the slime from their hands. The great character actor Les Tremayne ("War of the Worlds," "Monolith Monsters") overacts as Toliver, an eccentric writer. Somewhere in the film is Tom Laughlin of "Billy Jack" fame. He must be the slime person who knows karate. Saturday, 10 p.m. and 2 a.m., USA network Ch. 17 "The Corpse Vanishes" (1942) Dela Lugosi, Little An gela Rossitto Another classic Bela Lugosimad doctor B movie. Bela steals brides and extracts some goo (Oil of Olay?) to keep his wrinkly, crybaby wife looking young. His diabolical assis tants include Minerva Urecal (yes, the Minerva from "The Ape Man") and her two sons, moron Frank Moran, and dwarf actor Angelo Ros sitto, who was paid $1 25 for the role. Recently Rossitto was in "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome." To show how mad he is, Bela chokes Minerva and Moran and pitches Angelo onto the pavement, where the cops shoot him. Hi!
