Exhibits blend
styles, tradition
ART from Page 9
nudes in alcoves and behind balu
strades, borders and crosses, accentu
ating them with odd architectural con
figurations. The architecture either
serves to intimidate the figure or to
intensify the beauty of the form. Bent
limbs block or flow into complicated
compositional lines.
This exhibit is a remarkable blend of
idiosyncrasy and tradition that should
convince most viewers that the area is
not, in fact, a cultural wasteland. The
artists involved have definite styles
and show a tremendous confidence in
the uniqueness of those styles.
