Take two weekends, two important
plays, two directors, two playwrights,
two casts and one theatrical space and
you've summed up The Nebraska Dir
ector's Theater's "Rolling Rep."
The "Rolling Rep" consists of two
full-length shows on alternating even
ings. The first is "The Accidental Death
of an Anarchist" by Dario Fo, one of
Italy's foremost playwrights. According
to Anne Meek, a UNL graduate student
in directing, the play is a "political
farce."

The plot concerns an insane man
with the ability to mimic other's actions
perfectly, who wanders into a police
department during an inquiry into the
death of an anarchist. The insane man
becomes the judge in the case.
"The play is built on a true story of a
real terrorist act in Italy," said Meek,
who is from Norway. "The play deals
with important political issues to me."
Although the play is very funny in its
portrayal of political events and issues,
Meek insists on its seriousness.
"Humor can be very serious," Meek
said.
The other play is "True West" by
Sam Shepard. "True West" is one of

Trotter, who is also a graduate student
in the theater department.
Shepard is one of the United States'
most celebrated playwrights, the author
of such staples of the American theater
as "Buried Child" and "Fool for Love."
Shepard has also made a name for him
self as an actor ("The Right Stuff,"
"Country") and a musician.
"True West" is the story of two
brothers, Austin and Lee, a successful
writer and a cowboy drifter, respec
tively. Their relationship, which has
always been tenuous, reaches a break
ing point one summer when Lee comes
home to ask his brother's help in writ
ing a film script.
"The play is more naturalistic and
realistic in format than other Shepard
plays," Trotter said. "But it still con-
