Daily Nebraskan Friday, April 4, 1986 1 986 Summer Reading Course Program Earn college credit over the summer months - take a Summer Reading Course! age 10 5C -5 Spring Meetings April 7-18 Through the Summer Reading Course Program students can earn college credit over the summer months. To participate in the Summer Reading Program: Attend the spring orientation meetings of the course(s) in which you are interested. Meet the instructor and receive a course syllabus. Register for the coursc(s) you wish to study during the summer. Enrollment is limited to 35. Registra tion begins April 21 and ends May 9. Study independently over the summer. Attend the fall meetings (scheduled September 8-12) and complete the course work in September by ful filling the requirements specified by your instructor. Grades will be recorded in October. Guidelines for Approval Discuss your course selection with your advisor so you will be sure it fits into your degree program. For example: Arts & Sciences' students have a limit of 30 hours of Summer Reading and correspondence hours that will apply toward a degree. Architecture students need written approval to register for a Summer Read ing Course. Check your college's requirements before registering for a Summer Reading Course. Only two reading courses can be taken in one summer. Any exception will require the written approval of your advisor andor the dean of your college. In residence requirement: Courses with an "x" suffix do not qualify as resident credit. Summer Reading Course hours will not count toward the requirement that "at least 30 of the last 36 hours of credit needed for the degree must be registered for and completed in residence." No SRC registrations accepted after that date. SPECIAL EVENING REGISTRATION Where: Room 255, Nebraska Center for Continuing Education When: Thursday, April 24, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Full payment of tuition is required at time of registration. Tuition: $46.60 per credit hour Course Materials: Be sure to obtain all needed books and supplies in May. Bookstores will carry the required materials under the Summer Reading Course number so look for a SRC "x" designation. Grading Restrictions There will be no grades of "W" or "I" given for SRC "x" classes. The course work must be completed and graded by October 10, 1986, if you are to get credit for your 1986 Summer Reading Courses. If work is not completed and no drop is processed by August 29, a grade "F" will be recorded. There will be no option to extend this deadline or to reinstate your enrollment after the October 10, 1986 deadline. Note: General SRC policies and procedures regarding; grade reporting, drop procedures, and refund schedule are outlined in "the Summer Reading Course brochure available at the spring meetings andprbvided to the student at time of registration.
