A little luck of the Irish and a
buck or two will get you a taste of
Ireland at some of Lincoln's bars
today.
In honor of St. Patrick's Day, P.O.
Pear's, 322 S. 9th St., is serving
corned beef and cabbage sand
wiches. Green beer will be sold for
$2.59 a pitcher and Jameson Irish
Whiskey for $1.29 a shot, said assis
tant manager Ray Noffsinger.
NofXsinger suggests that patrons
wear green clothes. "If you don't
wear green, I hear you get pinched,"
he said.
Other bars also are including
Irish drink specials during their
regular Monday happy hours.
The Zoo Bar, 138 N. 14th St., will
host Its "Standard Monday Party"
from 7 to 11 p.m. with Irish beers
and whiskeys, said owner, Larry
Boehmer.
The Rose, also known as the
"Irish Pub," 200 N. 70th St., will
have happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. It
will feature green beer for $1 and
yard beers, said Donita Davenport,
manager.
Celebration, 1033 0 St., Suite 10,
will serve Irish delicacies, includ-
ing Irish coffee and Killian's Irish
Red Beer from Colorado for $1.
Celebration also will give the
person who guesses the correct
weight of a blarney stone a free
round-trip for two to Ireland.

N. 13, may lack Irish authenticity,
said general manager, Alan Eeer,

but "there's going to be a big party."v

Chesterfield's.

Computer
center makes
improvements

UNL's computer resource center is
growing by leaps and bounds.
A few years ago, the center was
almost non-existent, said Doug Gale,
director of the center, but since remodel
ing has begun, he said the staff has
grown from zero to 22 members and the
number of available terminals has in
creased by 800 percent.
The center has added air condition
ing to make the center more cbnforta
ble for both student and machine, Gale
said.
Besides the remodeling, several new
centers are being placed on campus, he
said, and more spaces are under con
sideration. The proposed budget cuts pose some
problems for the growth of the center,
Gale said.
Any student who has a legitimate
need may use the centers. But students
must have an account or access number
to get onto the computers.
Students can obtain account appli
cations at any of the centers, which are
located in residence halls, Nebraska
Union and in some classrooms.
The account form must be filled out,
signed by a faculty member and then
mailed to the address printed on the
form. The applicant will be sent back
an access number free of charge, Gale
said.
The Centers' hours correspond to
the hours of the building the compu
ters are housed in. But, Gale said, there
may not always be a staff member
available to help students because of
budget cuts.
