Friday, March 14, 1986 Summer aid forms, class registrations are dye this month Daily Nebraskan By Carol Harrah Staff Reporter Students must turn in summer school registration forms and financial aid applications this month, said Pegjy West, assistant director of student employment in the Scholarships and Financial Aid Office. March 3 1 is the deadline to apply for summer financial aid, and early regis tration for Summer and Fall classes is March 17 to April 4. the pre-session, the eight-week session and the . first session is May 15. For students attending the first and second sessions or the second session only, the deadline is July 1. "To receive a GSL, there is a later deadline since they have a back-door deadline," West said. "But the sooner a student fills out the loan application, the sooner they receive the money for the summer session they attend." O Register for classes before April 4. West said undergraduates generally need to take three credit hours during the summer for part-time status. O File a Financial Aid form before March 31 to speed up delivery of money. Summer school students who have submitted a 1985-86 FAF or a form for the 1986 fall semester don't need to fill out another FAF, West said. Summer school students also can apply for Guaranteed Student Loans. But, West said, students who plan to attend only the summer pre-session are ineligible for GSLs. The GSL application deadline for summer school, West said. For exam ple, she said, students may receive a full-time work -study job for the summer. "Most of these full-time positions are with nonprofit organizations and government agencies around Lincoln," West said. "There are some with the extension services around the state. Then a student might be able to live at home and have a full-time work-study job there as well." Graduate students may apply for work-study positions, West said. But grant funds are strictly undergraduate, she said.
