Dade conducted a study on the Lin coln Police Department's DWI, drug abuse, and liquor law arrests in Lan caster County from November of 1976 through 1985' Dade said of 16,312 DWI arrests, those in the 19 to 24 age group accounted for 6,821, or 41.8 percent of them. There was a total of 5,138 drug abuse arrests in the ten year period, and 19 to 24 year old accounted for 2,389, or 43.5 percent, of the arrests. "This particular age group makes up about 11.5 percent of Lancaster County," he said. "There are several university students and young working class members in this group." "I don't think those in the 19 to 24 age range are aware that they're in such a high risk group," Dade said. Although the percentages are high, they are understandable because young adults have new freedom and more money, he said. "They need a lot more information on what is considered as 'reasonable' drinking," said Dade. He said educating students before they enter this 'high risk' group may reduce the number of drinking prob lems. Five kegs . back-to-back BARS from Page 11 Brittany's, 227 N. Ninth St. Charles: Lawyers, law students, judges, legal secretaries and others who either make $75,000 a year or who are planning to, make this their home. It's beautiful inside and on Friday afternoon the beer is cheap. Since there occasionally are warrants out for my arrest, I don't spend a lot of time there. Bill: I think of Brittany's as sort of another Chesterfield's. The next time I have a warrant out for my arrest, maybe I'll go there instead of Chesterfield's. I really didn't want t his in the top 10, but Charles and I had to compromise. Not that it's not a really nice place Five kegs. Dinsdale's, 1228 P St., Bill: This is what I compromised for. I like the food specials at Dinsdales, especially their luncheon specials. It's a clean, well-lighted place. It's a good bar. Nothing special, just a good bar. Charles: For a clean, well-lighted place this isn't bad. I guess I've been there but I don't remember anything about it. The light didn't hurt my eyes, though, and someone took me home. Five kegs. If we left out one of your favorite places I'm sure we'll hear about it. Basically though, we tried to give you a general idea of what you might expect at the various college bars we've had the most fun at over the years. As always we encourage you to drink responsibly, wherever you drink, even if we don't. And never drink and drive. Bars can be a lot of fun, and so can drinking, but abusing alcohol is for real losers. If you wondered why we gave every bar five kegs, it's because we like kegs, five of them, back-to-back.
