First St., said there is a $25 janitorial charge for anyone using the church. That fee is fairly common for many of the churches in Lincoln, he said. The Indian Hills Community Church, 100 S. 84 St., which seats 2,000, also has additional costs for the weddings. Eileen Graff, secretary at Indian Hills, said the couple also is required to attend a pre-marital session, which costs $30. The organist is paid $35 and a $25 honorarium usually is given to the minister, she said. Choosing the location for the reception also should be one of the first things on the planning list. No rental fee is charged for a reception room at the Ramada Inn, 2301 N.W. 12 St. However, a minimum food and or alcohol order of $1,100 must be purchased, said Nona West, assistant manager for the hotel. West said the amount is not diffi cult to reach if the couple plans to spend $6 for each guest. That amount would include food and bar, she said. West said the hotel will set the tables with china, furnish the punch bowl and provide servers for the food. Although the punch bowl is pro vided, the cake, mints, nuts, cake knife and server are not. Berry Wortman, clerk at Special Moments, 4009 O St., said the cake knife and server can be purchased for $30 to $40. Wortman said the decoration for the top of the cake is $25. The wedding cake for 250 guests will be about $145, said Monica Plager, cashier at Geier's Bakery, 3865 S St. The cake should be ordered at least one month before the wedding, she said. It Will Visit Mints and nuts for 250 guests cost $20 at Miller & Paine, 13th & O streets. When the time and location of the ceremony has been settled, the paper products should be ordered. Invitations for 250 guests can be purchased for $150 at Paper Parade, 70th and A Clocktower, said Amy Klemfz, clerk for Paper Parade. Printed napkins for that same guest list would be $34 and 300 Thank You cards would cost $75, she said. Many couples personalize their weddings with flowers. Floral arran gements, corsages and boutonnieres for the entire wedding and reception are about $400, said Theresa DcJong, manager and owner of Paradise Floral, 4050 Cornhusker Highway. Finally, a photographer usually is selected to capture all the special moments of the wedding. Karen Evans, employee for Evans Studio, 1124 N. Cotner Blvd., said they can capture those moments for about $350. For that price, the photographer will be on hand for the wedding and reception, she said, the couple can choose a variety of poses in different photo sizes. Evans said the price includes a free engagement or bridal sitting. The studio also will provide a print for the newspaper announcement. Evans said couples planning to tie-the-knot should contact the photo grapher several months prior to the wedding. She said June has been booked for several months. The list of expenses could go on. There are many unexpected expenses that are apt to arise when the couple plans a wedding. However, the bride-to-be and the groom should expect to spend about $4,000 or more for their dream wedding. So if you think you've found "Mr. or Miss Right," and you feel like a millionaire, then by all means, make your wedding dreams come true.
