Thursday, November 14, 1985 Daily Nebraskan Faculty members speak to senators By Linda Hartmann Staff Reporter Several state senators are looking at NU more favorably because of recent meetings with UNL Faculty Senate members, a faculty senate spokesman Shorts UNL professor Moira Ferguson will speak about Mary Prince, the first female slave autobiographer, today at 3:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. UNL. professors David Forsythe and Ezekial Bahar will discuss Palestine, Zionism and the PLO today at 8 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. The discussion is sponsored by Hillel. Graduate students interested in applying for a Presidential Manage ment Internship can pick up informa tion and application forms in the Expe riential Education Office, Teachers College 102. Students seeking careers in the analysis and management of public policies and programs who will receive a masters degree in the current academic year are eligible. Since ail students must be nominated by their particular graduate programs and the application process is lengthy, appli cations should be picked up imme diately. Applications must be post marked by Dec. 6. The Residence Hall Association is registering participants for the Resi dence Hall Week's "Jail-a-thon" this week at a booth in the Nebraska Union. For $5, a person or group can get someone "arrested" for a make-believe crime and set the bail. The specified people will be arrested and put in the main lobby of the Nebraska Union dur ing "Jail-a-thon" hours, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. UNL police will help in the arrests. Registration is still open for winter study tours sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Open to the public, this imaginative study program combines the pleasures of learning and travel. Tours can be taken for credit or on a noncredit basis. This winter twelve study tours are slated to depart from the Lincoln or Omaha airports Dec. 26, 1985 and return Jan. 12, 1986. Police Report UNL police Tuesday received two reports of theft from vehicles in Park ing Area 1 on 19th Street from T to U streets. Stereo accessories were report ed stolen from one car and the license plate was reported stolen from the other. O A two-car accident was reported near 18th and S streets. Minor damage was reported to one vehicle. O A purse was reported stolen from Sandoz Hall. said Tuesday. Faculty Senate Secretary George Tuck said members of the senate's executive committee gave seven state senators the faculty's viewpoint on university budget cuts. Tuck, speaking at a Faculty Senate meeting, said executive committee mem bers were concerned because some senators think the university is wasting money. At the beginning of the faculty senate meeting, NU Regent Nancy Hoch told faculty members she appreciates their efforts to contact state senators and protest budget cuts. She urged faculty members to speak for the uni versity as a whole as well as for their programs.
