In the Nebraska and East unions stead
ily all day Tuesday, an ASUN official
said.
Lynn Didonato, executive board mem
ber, said the phone calls to parents
show students care about NlTs future.
ASUN provided six telephones
four in the Nebraska Union main lounge
and two in the East Union North 40
lounge so students could make free
two-minute in-state calls to their par
ents, urging them to contact state
senators about proposed NU budget
cuts, she said.
"We want parents to express that
'we sent our children here for an edu
cation, and we don't want it taken
away " Didonato said.
Tim Prickett, a sophomore actuarial
science major from Burwell, took ad
vantage of the free phone calls to talk
to his parents and his high school gui
dance counselor.
"I told my parents their pocketbook
was going to get a little strained, too, if
the budget cuts went through," he
said.
Didonato said the ASUN phones will
be available for use from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. today and 11 am. to 4 p.m.
Thursday.
