We are writing in response to Scott
Harrah's article on "TV Preacher's save
money, not souls" (Daily Nebraskan,
Nov. 1). We realize that it is impossible
to completely clarify in a short editor

but we would like to bring out a couple
of points.
First of all, it is clear from God's
inspired word that He desires for each
of us to use the gifts and talents which
He has given us to bring others to know
the love and forgiveness that has been

His son Jesus Christ. It is also apparent
that Jesus clearly disagreed with the
ways of the most "religious" people
ever to walk the earth (the Pharisees
and Scribes).
An example of His attitude toward
these people is found in Matthew 23.
Our objective is not to agree or dis
agree with the methods of evangelism
that these people have, but rather to
question the perspective and motives
of those who stand in complete opposi
tion to their teachings.

In Matthew 7:1-5, Jesus makes clear
to us the importance of recognizing our
own shortcomings and blindness before
judging the weaknesses of others. It is
also clear that Christ's purpose wasn't
to judge (John 3:16, 17, also in John 8 in
the case of the adultress), but instead,
His purpose was to do the will of God
the Father, even though His judgment
would have been completely true (John
8:16).
