Neil Simon comedy to play at experimental theater By John Rood Staff Reporter The Nebraska Director's Theatre, known for its presentation of lesser-known experimental plays, will venture toward the mainstream with its production of "I Ought To Be In Pictures." The Neil Simon comedy is most widely known in its movie form, a 1982 film starring Walter Matthau, Dinah Manoff and Ann Margaret. "I Ought To Be In Pictures" opens as 19-year-old Libby Tucker arrives in a Hollywood suburb with glamorous dreams. She has just hitchhiked from Brooklyn to meet her father, well-known screenwrit er Herb Tucker, and launch her career in show business. "I Ought To Be In Pictures" stars Ron Hager as Herb. Hager is a member of Lincoln's Washing ton Street Players' Place. Gigi Guerin, recently seen in "Greater Tuna," plays Herb's street smart daughter, Libby. Cecilia Gibb, a graduate of the UNL Theatre Arts Department, plays Herb's ambitious girlfriend, Steffy. Director Beth Amsbary, a UNL graduate stu dent, said she hopes to incorporate her personal directing style in to the already-famous script. It is her third production at the Theatre.
