(Co-sponsor C$3EI )- A 9C Daily Nebraskan Neo-classic appears at Eddy Toussaint's Ballet De Mont real, an internationally acclaimed company, will appear in Kimball Hall Nov. 2 and 3 at 8 p.m. Although the company has toured Europe, South and Central America and Canada, the Kim ball Hall appearance is part of their first major tour in the United States. The Ballet De Montreal was founded eleven years ago by Eddy Toussaint and originally started as ajazz troupe. Then the company transformed into a neo classic ballet company, combining jazz and ballet. In July 1984, Toussaint won a gold medal for best contemporary choreo graphy at the First International Ballet Competition in Helsinki, Finland, with his "Unsimple Moment." Toussaint was born in Haiti where he started his classical training when he was six at the Academie de Ballet of Port-au-Prince with Lavina Williams, a black American dancer associated with dancers such as Catherine Dunham and Alvin Ailey. He moved to Quebec when he was 12 ' years old and abandoned his classical ballet studies for seven years. Then he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogy. He opened a small school of dance and worked with several groups. Two-thirds of the company's seventy piece repertoire were choreographed by Toussaint.
