After the show we gave Tex a short
driving tour of Lincoln en route to
KZUM where she did an interview. We
showed her the Capitol building to
which she responded, "Why's that
here?"
When asked where she was from she
said, "A humble , old shack in the
woods."
"Like Loretta Lynn?" we ventured.
"Like Loretta Lynn's dog," she replied.
The Horseheads' first album, "Tex
and the Horseheads" has been availa
ble for some time and their upcoming
LP "Life's So Cool" (produced by John
Doe of X) is due out any minute. The
band plays in Lawrence, Kan. Saturday
night where they'll be opening for X.
After that a European tour is in the
works.
Just a kind word for the opening
band, Dance the Carpet, a local group.
Three of the four-man band played
around Lincoln before as Holiday and
lead singer Steve Reeves used to be
with Skinny. Dance the Carpet played a
surprisingly sophisticated and hypnotic
set of all original material patterned
after British groups like The Smiths
and Prefab Sprout.
Tex and the Horseheads is a great
party band. It's a shame the crowd
wasn't ready for that great party.
