Daily Nebraskan Friday, September6, 1985 pointer Sisters' 'Contact' album grooves Page 9 By Terri Tabor Staff Reporwr the Pointer Sisters vVHIUICIlflOi fame. To "Break Out" fans, this album will be a safe record purchase. But for those who were skeptical about the Pointer Sisters before, I don't see this album changing their opinion much. It's all very danceable and without a doubt will be a God-send to those frus trated aerohi away from its previous "Break Out" dire need of material to jog in place to. style. , . . 11 includes some decent synthesizer The sassy vocals, the beat-lashing work and, surprisingly, relies on a drum rhythm and the ideology behind the machine throughout the album nuuuay can aeny that Kuth, Jane and Anita are talented vocalists From the first track of the Pointer Sisters' new album "Contact," it's ob .iis that the trio decided not to break Record Review U ill LU HIIV v v VCW wviMim VAIV . . l At lyrics are all similar to tneir earner release, "Break uut, wnicn Drougnt both as soloists and in harmonizing conglomerations. The first time I lis tened to "Hey You," I could have sworn a male vocalist sang the lead. But it was Ruth, who proved she's one heck of an alto. If you want to buy an album to "groove to" and put you in a seductive frame of mind, this album is for you. It's not what you'd call an original approach for the Pointer Sisters, but because of their incredible success with "Break Out," I suspect their strategy is to keep that ball rolling. If you buy albums only to be inspired by deep lyrical content, I suggest you save your money and pass on this one. The lyrics are redundant at times. Most songs have an aggressive woman's love-conquest theme. For example: "if you wanna hold itif you wanna show itcome and let me know ittwist my arm. "I need a little lovintonight C'mon rock me, don't let goI don't wanna be alone. "These lyr ics won't bring any tears of inspiration from me. The album, however, is very well pro duced and it should be another com mercial success for the Pointer Sisters.
