Norman Langemach, chief city pro secutor, said if a parking ticket is not paid within five days of its issue, the fine goes up. After 15 days, the car is put on a tow list. , With delinquent parking tickets, the court tows the car instead of looking for the offender, he said. Deadline for application: Sept. 24. moving traffic violations, Langemach said. "If a moving violation is not paid, the violator will be cited for failure to appear in court," Langemach said. For failing to appear, offenders are fined $33 and may receive a jail sentence. The Lincoln Municipal Court recently indicated that the number of delin quent tickets is rising and asked the police to increase enforcement, said Capt. Jim Baird. Don Carnes, Lincoln City Auditor, said the city had about $25,000 in unpaid parking tickets as of Aug. 1. Of that total, $17,467 were from cars regis tered outside of Lancaster County, Carnes said. At that time, 5 1 9 cars were on the city's tow list. The auditor's office has been in charge of naririn,. violations since July. Langemach said that if people don't pay traffic tickets and are cited for failure to appear in court, they will be arrested and jailed. If bond cannot be posted, offenders will spend the night in jail and be tried in the morning, he said. If people don't have the time or money to appear in court, they should contact the court and have the time changed or fill out a time payment form, Langemach said. "It is a lot cheaper than paving an extra $35 fine," he said. The court allows a time payment plan if offenders don't have bad pay ment records, he said. UNIVERSITY OF ERLANGEN Nurnburg. Germany.
